India survived a major injury scare when veteran seamer Mohammed Shami was forced to leave the field after his third over during the match against arch-rivals Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. The incident happened in the sixth over of India's bowling when Shami was seen in pain in his ankle after bowling the fourth delivery. Physio came out and checked him.

He finished the remaining two deliveries and left the field in the next over. Hardik Pandya came to bowl from his side. He remained in the dressing room till eighth over.

Shami came to the field in the ninth over when Hardik Pandya was bowling to Babar Azam. Pandya dismissed him on his second delivery of the over to get India's first breakthrough.

Pakistan have opted to bat first after winning the toss in Dubai. Imam-Ul-Haq is the only change in Pakistan's playing XI from the last match. He came in place of injured opener Fakhar Zaman.

Shami opened India's bowling attack and conceded five wides in the first over. Just one run came from the first over but five wides gave a good start for the opponents.

Shami, Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh are the three pacers in the Indian squad for this tournament. India might have lost their guiding force in the match with Shami injured.

Shami is India's leading wicket-taker in ICC ODI events. He has taken 60 wickets in just 19 innings.

The 34-year-old pacer had a wonderful ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 where he was the highest wicket-taker with 24 wickets. He was out of action after that World Cup and recently made his comeback to international cricket.
